We are thrilled to introduce one of our esteemed speakers for Data Server Day: Kelly Schlamb. With over 25 years of experience in the tech industry, Kelly has established himself as a prominent figure in the world of database technology and analytics.
Throughout his impressive career, Kelly has held key roles in Db2 kernel development and has been a part of the IBM Analytics Technical Sales and Cognitive Systems Skills Enablement teams. His expertise spans a wide range of topics, including database technology, analytics, cloud computing (public, private, and hybrid), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and deep learning.
Kelly’s contributions to Db2 development have been instrumental in shaping critical features in areas such as logging and recovery, data caching, storage management, XML, and pureScale. These contributions form the bedrock upon which countless businesses trust their mission-critical applications and data.
Beyond his technical prowess, Kelly has demonstrated exceptional leadership as a people manager, technical team lead, and project manager. He has a remarkable track record of leading high-profile, critical customer situations to successful resolutions. Les King, Data & AI, IBM Canada
We are thrilled to introduce one of our distinguished speakers for Data Server Day – Les King. With over 30 years of industry experience, Les stands as a recognized authority in the dynamic realms of data management systems, business intelligence, data warehousing, and more.
Les’s expertise spans a wide spectrum, covering areas such as OLTP, OLAP, analytics, operational analytics, and big data. He possesses a profound understanding of how these facets intricately interact within cloud, mobile, and NOSQL environments. Over his illustrious career, Les has accrued extensive knowledge, having worked with IBM DB2 for 24 years and gaining experience with other database management systems like Informix, solidDB, and SQLServer. Furthermore, he keeps abreast of cutting-edge technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, BigInsights, BigSQL, Cloudant, and Compose.
Les King has left an indelible mark on IBM’s Hybrid Data Management strategies, spanning Big Data, Analytics, Database, and Cloud Data Services. He serves as a trusted advisor, both to clients and within IBM, leveraging his 25-year career in IBM Analytics to provide a holistic perspective encompassing technical and business dimensions. Les’s passion lies in empowering clients to strategically harness IBM solutions for their business needs through Information Management and Analytics technology.
Beyond his professional achievements, Les’s academic inclinations shine through. He began his career as a developer and continues to impart his knowledge by periodically teaching development courses at post-secondary institutions in Toronto. His extensive academic journey includes roles as a professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Toronto and Seneca College, underlining his deep-rooted passion for education.
